Dr. Annie Yu
Many of Dr. Yu’s family members work in the medical field. In fact, her uncle is a dentist! However, she wasn’t drawn to dentistry until she saw first-hand the positive impact she could have on others. She saw a once timid and quiet girl become a confident and happy one with a simple fix of a chipped tooth and the rest, as they say, is history.
Dr. Yu chose to attend The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where she graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2006. Next, she completed a residency program and pursued post-graduate training with exceptional practitioners like Dr. Peter Dawson of the Dawson Academy. To this day, continuing education and advanced training is something she prioritizes, which is why she is a frequent scholar at world-renowned institutions, like the Pankey Institute, and maintains active memberships with professional organizations like the Seattle Study Club. Her commitment to her craft has led to an impressive achievement as well: she was awarded her Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry in 2013 and her Mastership in 2020!
When she isn’t helping her patients in and around Friendship Village smile, Dr. Yu enjoys spending time with her husband, especially when it involves hitting the slopes. She also loves traveling and trying different restaurants!
Kind Words from Our Valued Patients
I have known Dr. Yu since 2013. Her professionalism, bed side manner, ethics and knowledge are backed by her years of schooling and beyond. She is one of few dentists in the country that has done an optional residency with an additional Masters of Academy of General Dentistry in addition to her fellowship. I would highly recommend her for the quality and attention to detail she pays to each of her patients. And that is why I refer family and friends to her as well.

How Do I Find the Best Place to Get Dental Work Done?
The ideal place to undergo dental work will depend on several factors that are important to you, which may involve a mixture of things like location, hours, cleanliness, insurance/payments and fees, credentials, and safety. Also, you’ll need to know the type of dental service you need or are interested in. Do you require emergency treatment, want to improve your smile with cosmetic dentistry, or simply need to schedule your next checkup and cleaning? Some practices may be better suited for certain services. Remember to also get a feel for the dental team, such as how they interact with their patients and if they offer personalized care. You can even read up on the dentist and team bios on their website to learn about their background and education.
How Much Does a Dental Checkup & Cleaning Cost Near Friendship Village?
The exact price of a dental checkup and cleaning will vary based on different factors, including geography and your oral health. These visits typically have you undergo a discussion about your dental health history as well as any concerns you might have about your smile. We will also thoroughly assess your mouth, take X-rays, provide professional cleaning, and screen you for oral cancer. In most cases across the United States, these appointments can cost anywhere between $200 and $350. With insurance, you might expect the price to be negotiated between your dentist and insurance provider.
What is the Best Way to Find a Cosmetic Dentist?
It might come as a surprise to know that nearly any dentist can call themselves a cosmetic dentist. However, certain professional organizations provide extensive training in cosmetic dentistry, meaning you’ll want to find and work with someone who has received advanced education through one of these institutions. For instance, Dr. Yu is a proud and active member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), which is one of the United States’ highest-ranking organizations for cosmetic dentistry. By visiting a dentist with this level of training, you can feel more confident about receiving the quality cosmetic dental care you’re looking for.
How Much Does it Cost to Get a Tooth Extracted Without Insurance?
On average, the price of a tooth extraction in markets throughout the United States can typically be around $150 to $400 without insurance coverage. The exact amount will also depend on various factors, including geography, the patient’s dental health, the level of difficulty in removing the tooth, and if any sedatives were used during the procedure. Of course, if you’re currently insured, then you might have some of the overall cost covered depending on what your provider and dentist have previously negotiated.
