If my tooth no longer hurts, should I keep my emergency appointment?

Yes, and the reason is that pain is only one of many symptoms that can occur when dealing with a dental emergency. Whether you have an infection, facial trauma, or something stuck between your teeth, it’s best to call and schedule an emergency appointment with Dr. Yu before the issue worsens and results in more serious and complex dental care.

With a quick evaluation, she can identify the underlying cause and provide appropriate recommendations that are designed to put your smile back on track.

Why should I choose Invisalign over traditional braces?

Invisalign clear aligners are a subtle form of orthodontic treatment that allows for a more discreet way to straighten teeth. Unlike traditional braces that are bulky and shine a spotlight on treatment, Invisalign trays are made of clear plastic and can be removed before eating or drinking. Also, they are less likely to irritate soft oral tissues, making for a more enjoyable experience. Finally, Invisalign tends to produce quicker results than traditional braces (i.e., 12-18 months versus 2-3 years).

How often should I change my toothbrush?

The American Dental Association (and most dentists) recommend that patients change out their toothbrushes every 3-4 months. The reason is that the bristles can become frayed and otherwise ineffective. Also, bacteria can accumulate over time, increasing the risk of problems developing inside the mouth, leading to tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues.

Will I need a referral for dental implants?

Dr. Yu will recommend an outside dental implant specialist to perform the surgical portion of treatment; however, you will return to our dental office to receive your customized dental restoration. She will conduct the initial consultation to determine if you are a qualified candidate for treatment before referring you to a specialist for oral surgery. However, there’s no need to be concerned, as these individuals are well-versed and trained to place dental implants.

Why is professional teeth whitening preferred over store-bought kits?

Professional teeth whitening offers far greater benefits and results than store-bought whitening kits. When buying from your local drug store, there’s a good chance the results you achieve will be lackluster. Also, you are more likely to overuse the product(s), causing your teeth to become sensitive.

Having a professional administer your whitening treatment will ensure you remain safe, and your teeth and gums radiate a brighter white when finished.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

Dr. Yu is pleased to accept your dental insurance at this time and will file any paperwork and claims on your behalf. This helps to minimize the amount of stress that is often felt when undergoing dental treatment of any kind. Currently, we are in-network with United Concordia, GEHA, and Guardian.
